About me:
I've lived in the Lake District since 1997. A former primary teacher, I also taught English at Liverpool University and the University of Cumbria before retraining as a therapist. I love my work and get a great deal of satisfaction from it.
In my spare time I write - I was South Cumbria Poet Laureate in 2004 - and am a craft bookbinder. I enjoy solo and ensemble classical singing with several choirs around Cumbria, and also love T'ai Chi, wild swimming and walking our wonderful fells.

Person-centredThis approach says we're born with the ability to reach our full potential, but our early experiences may alienate us from our true self.
The therapist seeks to be open and willing to express their own identity without hiding behind expertise or degrees. They also provide other conditions needed for the client's growth:
1) Unconditional positive regard (acceptance and appreciation of the client).
2) Empathic understanding (seeing things through the client's eyes). or RogerianRelating to the system of therapy - developed by Carl Rogers - which emphasises a person-to-person relationship between the therapist and the client.
In this person-centred approach the client determines the course, speed, and duration of treatment and can find the means to restructure his or her life by establishing a relationship with an understanding therapist.
